Old media visualization

As technology marches on, we often forget everyday objects from the yesteryear. Floppy disks retain their presence as the abstract icon for saving. Yet old media like floppies or data casettes can tell us a lot about our past and its preservation is important today, because total lifetimes are short.

The primary goal of this project is to utilise the universal floppy disk emulator Pauline, made in collaboration by top French and Japanese video game preservationists, apply it to our collection of floppies, and make interesting data visualizations, of both the raw magnetic encodings, perhaps file types discovered, or volumes of data.
